WordPress vs Wix
Why WordPress Wins Web Sites.
When it comes to setting up your own website without the assistance of a Web Developer, you might be overwhelmed by all the pricey options, Website Builders and Content Management Systems that exist when all you want to do is quickly set up your Website and get on with your life.
So, you have done all your research, you have crawled the internet for hours and you are now deciding between the two Ws: WordPress or Wix? Before we continue, you need to understand the difference between Wix and WordPress.
Wix is a Website Builder and WordPress is a Content Management System, by the looks of it, it does sound like WordPress is more sophisticated doesn’t it? Anyways, a Website Builder (Wix), provides tools for you to quickly build a website from scratch by providing you with templates to drag and drop onto a page, you do not need coding skills to create a Wix website.
A Content Management System (WordPress) on the other hand, is more complex than a simple Website Builder and you can do much more than just set up a website. You can set up multivariate systems.
With WordPress, you can have multiple users, multiple subscribers, multiple administrators and multiple editors… and you can use multiple programming languages to modify your site.
The fact that WordPress is a content management system means that is has more flexibility and scalability at a more affordable price than Wix.
Both Wix and WordPress have free options, with Wix, you will have to subscribe to premium offers just to have basic features that you can get for free on free versions of WordPress. Therefore, WordPress is more affordable than Wix.
Affordability aside, Wix has multiple templates and WordPress has easy to use themes. Themes are much easier to use and are more customizable than templates, not only that, WordPress is open source and has a larger community of users than Wix, which means that whatever problem you may be faced with, someone else has dealt with that problem. Therefore, you will always find a solution.
WordPress is therefore more scalable, affordable, flexible and has more technical support than Wix, and you should definitely set up your Website with WordPress.
And as a bonus (as if WordPress can’t get any cooler), WordPress is offered as a service on AWS (Amazon Web Services) with even better features and plugins!
If, after all the research you have done, you realize that you neither have the time nor the expertise to continue with making your own website, get a website here.
